The first Egyptian-Sudanese Businessmen Forum kicked off today in Cairo, under the patronage of Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, with the participation of several Egyptian and Sudanese ministers, Ambassador General Imad El-Din Addawy, Ambassador of Sudan to Egypt, as well as heads of committees and members of the House of Representatives and the Senate .
According to the forum organizers, more than 700 Egyptian and Sudanese businessmen are participating in the forum.
Eng. Alaa Nagi, Chairman of the Egyptian-Sudanese Development and Investment Company, welcomed the participants of the Egyptian-Sudanese Business Forum, which is being held in its first edition on Egyptian soil. He expressed his hope that the second edition would take place soon in the dear land of Sudan. In his opening speech at the forum, Eng. Alaa Nagi stated: “This forum represents a step towards strengthening economic and trade relations between the two Nile Valley countries through joint investments in the fields of production and food manufacturing. It also aims to enhance cooperation between the two countries for the reconstruction of Sudan, which requires the integration of efforts and the strengthening of economic partnership through mutual investments.”
He stated that “The Egyptian-Sudanese Development and Multi-Investment Company, which I have the honor to chair alongside my brothers from Sudan and Egypt, serves as a model of economic integration between the two brotherly countries.”
He added, “Through this forum, we aim to open new horizons for cooperation and continue contributing to achieving food security for both countries.”
Engineer Alaa Naji expressed his hope that this forum would serve as a link between current investments and our aspirations for an economic future with new investments between the two countries. He also hoped that the forum’s outcomes would be a strong step towards achieving progress and development for the great people of the Nile Valley.
Dr. Sherif Farouk, the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, delivered his speech during the first edition of the Egyptian-Sudanese Businessmen Forum, which is being held today.

During his speech, Dr. Sherif Farouk, the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, emphasized the deep-rooted Egyptian-Sudanese relations at all levels. He pointed out that one of the Ministry’s top priorities is economic integration with Nile Basin countries, especially the brotherly nation of Sudan.
During his speech, Dr. Sherif Farouk highlighted the importance of joint cooperation between the two countries and improving supply chains, especially in the field of food security. He emphasized that the significant steps taken by Egypt in implementing its infrastructure development plan, such as road improvements and increasing storage capacities, have opened up vast opportunities to strengthen mutual cooperation.
In this context, Dr. Sherif Farouk, the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, invited Egyptian and Sudanese businessmen to strengthen serious cooperation and take advantage of the solid relations between the two countries to open new economic channels that serve the people and facilitate engagement in various industries, supply chains, and the construction of logistics zones. This would contribute to achieving sustainable food security, which is a fundamental component of national security for the region. Dr. Farouk also called for utilizing such events to create sustainable mechanisms for economic cooperation between the two countries, enhancing and sustaining the relationship, particularly in the areas of food security, industry, transport, and infrastructure.
Dr. Sherif Farouk, the Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, also emphasized the importance of this forum in strengthening the bonds of cooperation between our two countries. He stressed the Ministry’s commitment to providing an environment that fosters investment and cooperation, while facilitating internal trade, especially in areas that support food security and, consequently, the national security of the two brotherly countries.
It is worth noting that two working papers were presented during the forum: one on joint food security between Egypt and Sudan, and the other on reconstruction in Sudan. The papers covered the current situation, available investment opportunities between the two countries, both at present and in the future.
