The Minister of Endowments witnesses the distribution of the first batch of sacrificial meat in the presence the Egyptian Sudanese Company representative.

On Thursday, June 20, 2024, Dr. Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa, the Minister of Endowments, inspected El-Basateen slaughterhouse in Cairo to oversee the endowment sacrificial meat preparation process. This process is carried out under full religious and medical supervision at its various stages, from slaughtering to deboning, cutting, packing, cooling, freezing, and transport. The inspection was attended by Major General Mahmoud El-Saadani, Executive Managing Director of the Egyptian Meat and Poultry Company; Dr. Mohamed Abdel Wahab, Technical Managing Director; Dr. Amr El-Sharqawy, Head of the Branches Sector; Dr. Ahmed Abdel Sabour, Slaughterhouse Consultant; and Dr. Omar Awad El-Karim, Head of the Animal Production Sector, the Egyptian Sudanese Company for Development and Multiple Investments, that supplies Sudanese and local meat to the Egyptian Meat and Poultry Company.

Also present from the Ministry of Endowments was Dr. Hisham Abdel Aziz, Head of the Religious Sector, Dr. Abdullah Hassan Abdel Qawi, Minister’s Assistant for Follow-up Affairs, Sheikh Sabry Yassin Dwidar, Head of the Political Communication and Community Engagement Group, Dr. Marwa Farhat Afifi, General Manager of Charitable Activities, Dr. Sayed Masoud Sayed, Director of the Giza Endowments Directorate, Dr. Mahmoud Khalil, Deputy Director of the Cairo Endowments Directorate, veterinarians and eminent figures from the Ministry of Endowments.

The Minister of Endowments expressed his gratitude to the virtuous people of this great nation, who day after day prove that they are noble and bona fide, HE also praised the spirit of fraternity as one of their most distinctive qualities. He also expressed his gratitude to all the partners in the Sacrificial Meat Certificates Project, and those overseeing and managing it from the Ministry of Endowments. HE extended his thanks to everyone who contributed to reaching this distinguished level. He specifically thanked the workers at the slaughterhouses of the Holding Company for Food Industries, affiliated with the Ministry of Supply, for their outstanding efforts in the project, their commitment to providing their utmost to ensure that the meat reaches such a high level of excellence.

The Minister of Endowments pointed out that this is the ninth consecutive year for the sacrificial meat certificates project, with a total number of more than 9 million families, prioritized for care beneficiaries. He also confirmed that the total amount collected during this year’s season from sacrificial meat certificates and food offered, from Ramadan to Dhul-Hijjah, amounted to more than 300 million pounds.

The Minister of Endowments affirmed that this year, the Ministry aims with God’s grace to reach one million families. Today, Thursday, June 20, 2024, marks the launch of the distribution of the first batch of endowment sacrificial meat, totaling 60 tons of meat. Distribution begins in Giza Governorate and extends to all governorates, with a minimum of 2,000 families per governorate in this initial batch. Distribution is carried out with transparency and reaches the families prioritized for care with dignity and respect.

Dr. Omar Awad Al-Karim, Head of the Animal Production Sector, Egyptian Sudanese Company, confirmed that that the Company plays its role in supplying meat to the consumer complexes affiliated with the Ministry of Supply throughout the year. This qualifies the Company to supply sacrificial meat to the Ministry of Endowments during the Eid al-Adha period in the current year and in previous years. This accords with the Company’s strategy to contribute to achieving food security.

The veterinarians at the slaughterhouse confirmed that inspections are conducted on the sacrificial animals before slaughter and after slaughter to ensure the safety of the sacrificial animals and all their parts and that they are free from any defects or diseases.
